P² Collaborative of Western New York will welcome Roswell Park Cancer Institute’s Erie-Niagara Tobacco-Free Coalition and its Tobacco Control Program to its March quarterlymeeting, “Tobacco Control of WNY: Successes, Challenges and Services,” which will take place on March 20 at Templeton Landing Restaurant.
The meeting will feature Patricia Bax, R.N., M.S., from New York State Smokers’ Quitline and Roswell Park Cessation Services; Anthony Billoni, M.S., from Tobacco-Free Western New York; Jenna Brinkworth from Erie-Niagara Tobacco-Free Coalition; and Pat Hysert from Just Breathe Tobacco Assessment and Cessation Service at Roswell Park.
The Erie-Niagara Tobacco-Free Coalition was established in 1993 and is a member of the New York State Bureau of Tobacco Control. It is a community-based organization that seeks to create a healthier Western New York by reducing retail tobacco marketing and establishing tobacco-free parks and other designated tobacco-free areas.
The Tobacco Control Program is a resource for Western New York residents that provides information and assistance on tobacco issues to prevent smoking as well as help current smokers. It is also a resource for Western New York residents to use if they are looking to eliminate smoking in a particular area or contact decision makers on tobacco-related issues.
The quarterly meeting will allow attendees to learn about what the Erie-Niagara Tobacco-Free Coalition and Tobacco Control Program are doing to help eliminate smoking in our community, the use of e-cigarettes, successes of the programs and challenges they are looking to overcome.
In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a question and answer session following the presentation.
