Meet our population health intern, Laura Wiglusz. This summer, Laura has been working on the Population Health Improvement Program (PHIP) and Local Initiatives for Multi-sector Public Health (Local IMPACT) grants.
Get to know Laura with this month's Meet the Intern.
What is your degree focus?
I recently graduated with an Associate degree in Healthcare Informatics from Trocaire College. I will be working toward completing the Bachelor degree program of the same major in the spring of 2017.
What do you hope to get out of this internship?
I am interested to see how what I’ve learned in the classroom thus far is put into practice on a daily basis in a public health setting. And I also look forward to learning how various cooperative efforts can impact and improve the health of a community.
What are some of your hobbies outside of your time with P²?
I am happiest when I can be active. I enjoy lifting weights as well as walking and hiking with my fiancée. The best part of my day is often spending time with my three cats Carol, Aquaman and Blanche. And when I am not busy with work or school, I also like to draw.
Do you have any exciting summer plans?
Since I am recently engaged, I should probably start thinking about planning a wedding. Otherwise I am just enjoying the rest of my summer before I go back to class.
