More than just a phrase, those words capture succinctly the mission of the Western New York Healthcare Association since its founding in 1931—to bring its members together for common purposes, common interests, common goals and the overarching, united goal of providing excellent healthcare and maintenance of good health to people in our eight-county region of Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Genesee, Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties. Our strength in association works through our members, public and private partners to strengthen healthcare in our region.
While our members strive to do just that in the delivery of healthcare, the Western New York Healthcare Association works fervently to remove obstacles that impair them from doing just that. We keep a guarded eye on healthcare legislation and policies that, while perhaps noble in intent, are in reality, sometimes fraught with unintended consequences that impede our members’ ability to provide the accessible, high-quality healthcare this region deserves.
We travel frequently to Albany and Washington to meet with elected leaders to help them to understand the benefits and consequences of proposed legislation. We act passionately and with substance on such legislation. And we appear frequently in the media to provide insight into healthcare issues.
We are an association that educates lawmakers, policy makers, our members and Western New Yorkers on all matters pertaining to healthcare delivery. We tout best practices in quality and patient safety along with other specialty areas in healthcare of not only of our members, but of providers nationwide. Along with our statewide affiliate the Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) we collect, analyze and share data to help members understand trends. We bring in speakers of note to clarify issues and in partnership with the HANYS, the American Hospital Association (AHA) and other public and private partners we survey the national landscape to spot emerging solutions to vexing healthcare problems.
But most of all, we are an association about our members, about the health of the region and about making certain our members have the clearest, fairest and most productive path to the one goal that is inarguable: to provide the utmost possible in high-quality, patient-centered, accessible healthcare to all those who live in, work in, and visit Western New York.
