Western New York Guidance Statement on Screening for Prostate Cancer
The purpose of the Western New York (WNY) Community Guidance Statement on prostate cancer screening is to provide physicians and patients the best current information regarding prostate cancer screening. There are numerous opinions on prostate cancer screening from several different organizations. The information is meant to help physicians and staff to counsel patients and their families based on a review of the best evidence and recommendations available. It was endorsed locally after review of the current national guidelines that used evidence-based medicine to study this issue. The WNY Guidance Statement incorporates the key points from both the American College of Physicians (ACP) Guidance Statement and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Guideline.
